Vertex Awarded Mandolin Canal Pilot Project

Pompano Beach, Florida, October 19th: The City of Cape Coral has awarded Vertex Water Features of Pompano Beach, Florida a contract to install and test an AirGate bubble curtain system across the mouth of the Mandolin canal. The purpose of the bubble curtain is to block cyanobacteria in the river from entering and contaminating the Mandolin canal and its associated waterways.

EPA Protects FL Waterways from Nutrient Pollution

ATLANTA – EPA has approved the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (FDEP) rules to protect Florida’s waterways from excess nitrogen and phosphorus. These pollutants, called “nutrients,” cause algal blooms, contaminate drinking water supplies and are among the largest contributors to water quality problems in Florida. FDEP’s rules establish numeric limits on the amount of nutrient pollution allowed in statewide springs, lakes, streams and some estuaries.
